VERITY Now Submits Official Comment to NHSTA on Proposed Addition of Pedestrian Protection to NCAP Safety Program

WASHINGTON, DC – VERITY Now, a coalition to end gender discrimination in vehicle safety testing, submitted an official comment to NHTSA on July 25, 2022 in response to their proposed addition of crashworthiness pedestrian protection to NCAP [New Car Assessment Program].

With this Request for Comments, NHTSA is “proposing to add crashworthiness pedestrian protection to NCAP [New Car Assessment Program] to spur vehicle technologies that help address the rising number of fatalities and injuries that involve pedestrians.”

We applaud NHTSA for employing NCAP to inaugurate and widen marketplaces for safety. Societally beneficial innovation should be encouraged, and this agency is employing the program for that appropriate purpose.
