VERITY Now Commends Secretary Buttigieg and DOT for Supporting Equality in Crash Testing

We are pleased and encouraged to hear that the Department of Transportation is committing resources to advancing equal crash tests and dummy technology for every body. Women are 73% more likely to be injured in a crash, because the dummies used in crash tests usually only represent 5 ft 9, 171 lbs men. Using dummies that represent the bodies of real occupants in crash tests will help promote the safety of far more people who drive or travel in a car. We are grateful for the Secretary’s support in the fight for equality in crash testing, and we eagerly look forward to working with the Department on advancing the steps that are instrumental for attaining this goal, such as including equal tests and female dummies in the New Car Assessment Program.
