At VERITY NOW, we’re working to improve women’s safety in vehicles by advocating for updated crash testing standards. She Drives is a monthly email newsletter with updates on the latest news, research, upcoming events and ways to get involved with VERITY NOW. We’re glad you’re here, now let’s get into it.

In this section, we’ll cover all the things we’ve been working on or paying attention to over the last month and what is coming up next.

VERITY Now Submits Official Comment to NHSTA on Proposed Addition of Pedestrian Protection to NCAP Safety Program

Last month, VERITY Now submitted a public comment to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) on the proposed addition of crashworthiness pedestrian protection to the NCAP (New Car Assessment Program).

We applaud NHTSA for asking good questions about female pedestrian crash forms and for employing NCAP to inaugurate and widen marketplaces for safety. Societally beneficial innovation should be encouraged, and this agency is employing the program for that appropriate purpose. Read our full comment here.

Women’s Equality Day

#DYK that Women’s Equality Day was this month? Saturday, August 26th, was not only a day to commemorate the passing of the 19th Amendment, but it was also a time for reflection, celebration and motivation to create change. Just as women deserve equal rights in voting, workplaces, and homes, they also are entitled to an equal guarantee of safety on the roads. Check out VERITY Now’s full statement on Women’s Equality Day here.
