VERITY Now hosts Drive to Equity, a virtual panel event on equitable transportation design

On Thursday, March 23, VERITY Now organized Drive to Equity, a virtual panel event focusing on equity in transportation design. The panel brought together experts from various fields to discuss safety, design, and how women’s needs are considered or overlooked during product development.

Moderated by VERITY Now Co-Chair Susan Molinari, the event featured insightful discussions from experts in their respective fields. Karen Korellis Reuther, an educator, designer, activist, and former creative executive at Nike and Reebok, shared her perspective on design and how designers can better address the needs of all users.  Hana Schank, a technology researcher and UX consultant, shared her personal experience as a car crash survivor, as well as her efforts at promoting car safety features that protect women from severe injuries and fatalities. Jess O’Connell, co-founder and partner at NEWCO Strategies and a former advisor to Pete Buttigieg’s and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaigns, provided insights on how advocates can engage policymakers and others to improve regulations and designs that enhance women’s safety.
