VERITY Now thanks the House Appropriations Committee for including language on equality of crash testing

We would like to thank Appropriations Committee Chair Kay Granger, Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro, Subcommittee Chair Tom Cole, and Subcommittee Ranking Member Mike Quigley for including language focused on equality in crash testing in their report. Their guidance will help move NHTSA closer to the expansion of crash tests and advanced equipment, which a growing consensus recognizes is necessary. The report states that “in order to adequately address the variances in crash testing data, the updates must ensure the inclusion of frontal crash tests for both male and female drivers.” We are also pleased that they have asked that the Committee continue “to direct the NHTSA to provide quarterly updates to the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations” on adoption of the new THOR dummies, including the THOR 5th.

We applaud the dedication of our allies in Congress to improving crash protections. By advocating for equal testing and equipment, they are rewarding innovators and expanding the market for safety, ultimately making the United States a more competitive nation of manufacturers.
